About Us - Q&A
What is your primary photography style?
Our photography style is candid photojournalism with a hint of formal and creative portraiture. We believe our couples should stay in the moment of their wedding day because it goes by so quickly! As two full shooters are included with every standard package, we are able to be in two places at once! When our clients receive their gallery they receive two different perspectives of their wedding day uniquely portrayed.
How would you describe your working style? Do you prefer to blend into the background to capture candid moments, or do you like to be more visible and take charge to choreograph images?
To respect your time timetable, it is important that we guide family and friends through family and bridal photos. For family photos, we ask for assistance from the groom’s and bride’s family as we don’t know all your important family members. Otherwise, we blend into the background and capture your memories as they happen. Some ceremony venues restrict where photographers may stand while capturing photos. We respect those restrictions and may need to stage some ceremony shots.
What is your philosophy about shooting weddings?
There is something so wonderful about doing life together. In a split moment, new acquaintances become like family because of the precious moments shared. As photographers, we understand your wedding day is over in a blink. Our focus is to capture your unique story so you can celebrate the memories for years to come while giving you space to enjoy your day.
How should I choose a photographer?
We understand budget is a concern but a photographer captures creative images for you to look back on to remember your wedding day. Images are initially captured through exposure and creative composition. Once taken into the computer, there are edits of color and cropping rendered onto your images.  It is important you like our style.
With Lace Photography, you are likely hiring two photographers. We edit our own images, your photos work well together but do have two different natural flairs. More important, a photographer is with you throughout your day. Please choose a photography team you enjoy and are comfortable to spend the day with.
Do you shoot both digital and film?
We only shoot in digital format.
Can I share my ideas for images I want?
Absolutely! We want to know what you like, however, we strive to creatively express your day and capture the moments that make it your day. You are unique so we like to gain insight into your preferences and desires. Pinterest and the internet have millions of wedding images. Some images are taken in a studio and have hours of prep time with specialized lighting. Also, your wedding day is fluid and fast paced so we can not always guarantee specific shots.
Can we request a list of specific shots we would like? Are you open to a list of must-take photos?
Absolutely! We provide every booked couple with a questionnaire to understand their photography wishes. Some desired photos may not fit into your schedule as your day unfolds but to the best of our ability, we will try to capture your requested photos.
Have you ever shot a wedding at our ceremony or reception venue? If not, do you plan to check out the venue in advance?
When completing our brochure make sure to let us know where your ceremony venue and reception are. This helps us get familiar with your locations before talking to you. If we have never shot at your ceremony and/or reception location, depending on the location we will check out the venue in advance of your wedding day to familiarize ourselves with the venue, layout, lighting and determine if there are any restrictions from the venue.
Have you ever worked with any of our other vendors?
Possibly, make sure to let us know who you have hired. (PS: On our wedding questionnaire we have an optional question where you can list your A-team). We love working with other professionals that are passionate about making your wedding day picture perfect. Teamwork makes your dream work!
How does the photographer coordinate with the videographer?
When working with your videographer(s) we strive to work seamlessly with them. Often times we work together setting up the shot to maximize our couples’ limited time. We do request to know what is more important to our couples, the wedding pictures or videos. It allows us to understand who should take the lead. We always ask our couples who their videographer is so we can communicate with them before your wedding day.
